Youth commit suicide after firing on another youth in Yamunanagar

YAMUNANAGAR: A youth allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself after opening fire on another youth in Yamunanagar district. The deceased was identified as Ashish, a resident of Majri village in Yamunanagar.
Sanket, a resident of Jagadhri, sustained bullet injuries in the firing by Ashish. He was initially taken to the civil hospital in Yamunanagar and later referred to PGIMER, Chandigarh, for further treatment.
On Tuesday, Sanket and his three friends were sitting in a car in Yamunanagar’s Model Town when Ashish allegedly arrived on a two-wheeler and opened fire on them. He then fled the scene.
According to reports, the police pursued Ashish, but when he found himself surrounded, he allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in an agricultural field in Saran village. Police recovered a pistol and 20 cartridges near his body.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rajesh Kumar stated that investigations revealed Ashish was employed in the education department.
“Ashish had a dispute with Sanket over an issue three months ago, which led to a grudge. On Tuesday, he saw Sanket sitting in a car with his friends in Model Town and opened fire, shooting four rounds, some of which hit Sanket. After the attack, Ashish fled on his two-wheeler. While on the run, he carjacked a vehicle at gunpoint near a toll plaza. The police chased him, and when he was surrounded, he shot himself in a field near Saran village,” said DSP Rajesh.
Meanwhile, based on a complaint by Tamis, a case of attempted murder was registered against Ashish at the Yamunanagar City police station.
Ashish’s uncle, Sandeep, has raised concerns over the incident and demanded an impartial investigation by an independent agency.
