PRAYAGRAJ: A bomb threat issued for Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, which begins Jan 13, is giving jitters to UP Police, which are on a hunt, online and on ground, to trace the accused.
The threat was issued via a post on X saying a blast targeting at least 1,000 people would be triggered during the religious congregation. This is the second social media post in a fortnight threatening to disrupt Maha Kumbh. Mela police Wednesday lodged an FIR against unidentified accused under sections of BNS and IT Act, and are taking the help of cyber cell to crack the case.
Rajesh Dwivedi, SSP, Kumbh Mela, told TOI: “Teams of Mela police and cyber cell are trying to trace the origin of post uploaded by a man, identified as Nasar Pathan, Tuesday.”
Cops are scanning various inputs, including details of the person who uploaded the post. “We have got some clues and the case will be worked out soon,” the SSP said. Earlier, a voice video threatened to create disturbances on key bathing days during Maha Kumbh.
