NEW DELHI: A woman was found hanging from a pole in northeast Delhi on Friday, while her husband was discovered dead by suicide at their Ghaziabad home after a domestic dispute, police reported.
Shivani (28) and Vijay Pratap Chauhan (32), residents of Loni, Ghaziabad, reportedly had an argument earlier that day, after which Shivani left their home.
She was later found hanging from an electric pole near the Loni roundabout in Delhi, about 8 km from their residence, according to the police.
The incident came to light when the local police were informed about the hanging. Upon arrival, they found a mobile phone in Shivani’s pocket, which was turned off.
After switching it on, officers contacted her family to inform them of her death, police stated.
“During the investigation, it emerged that her husband had also taken his own life at their residence,” said a police officer. So far, no suicide note has been recovered.
A crime and forensic team examined the scene and confirmed there were no other injuries on Shivani’s body, police added.
