NEW DELHI: Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit when asked if he and Arvind Kejriwal were close friends, accepted that they both worked together for a brief period but denied any close relationship with him.
The Congress leader said that he was introduced to the former Delhi CM by social activist Aruna Roy. He further said that Roy told him that Kejriwal would like to the contribute to the NGO he was working at.
Dixit then further told that Kejriwal visited him and said he wanted to understand how politics works, what challenges MPs face, and what problems people face.

He then further said that one day Kejriwal advised him to meet people outside in Pandara Park rather than his office without table and chair. However, Dixit did not agree with Kejriwal’s view and thought that he is not a serious person.
“He (Arvind Kejriwal) didn’t seem to understand and then I thought he is not a serious man. Then he remained for a few days,” said Dixit.
Dixit then told that during elections in 2009, Nikhil Dey, who worked with Aruna Roy Ji, called and said that we want to help in the election campaign. Dey told that they want to try new type of politics and want to campaign without any expense. He also added that Kejriwal will also help in the campaign.
Dixit agreed to the proposal and gave them one ward to campaign. However, he received a bill of forty lakhs for campaign of one ward.
The Congress leader then said that he thinks that Kejriwal only understands number when it suits him.
Sandeep Dixit is contesting the Delhi elections against Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi constituency while BJP has fielded Parvesh Verma against both of them. The polls will be held on February 5 and the result will be announced on February 8.
