NEW DELHI: A railway security personnel at Mumbai’s Borivali station rescued a woman commuter who was being dragged by a moving train after she lost her balance while attempting to disembark.
The Ministry of Railways shared the incident through a video post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
“At Borivali railway station in Maharashtra, a woman lost her balance and fell while getting down from a moving train. The railway security personnel present there acted promptly and saved her,” the ministry stated in their post.
The ministry used this incident to urge commuters not to board or alight from moving trains.
In a similar incident, a Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer saved a 40-year-old man’s life at Mumbai’s Andheri railway station on February 16, when the passenger fell while attempting to board the moving Lok Shakti Express on platform number eight.
The passenger, identified as Rajendra Mangilal from Andheri’s Seven Bungalow area, tried to board the departing train as he was running late for his journey to Ahmedabad.
“A passenger tried to board the running train but lost his grip and fell on the platform. He got stuck in the gap between the train and the platform,” an official said.
RPF Assistant Sub-Inspector Pahup Singh, who was on duty at the time, quickly responded to the situation and pulled Mangilal to safety, preventing a potential tragedy.
Mangilal later explained that he attempted to board the moving train because he had arrived late at the station. He was carrying a valid ticket for travel to Ahmedabad.
