GHAZIABAD: A 20-year-old man was arrested for allegedly spitting on chapati at a hotel in the Khoda area on Friday.
A case was registered against Irfaan of Bijnor after a video that was shared several times on social media showed him spitting on a chapati before putting it into a tandoor.
ACP Indirapuram Swatantra Singh said the clip appears to have been recorded recently at Som Bazar’s Delhi 6 hotel, where Irfan works as a cook, but came to police’s notice on Jan 9. The food safety and drug administration has collected food samples from the hotel after the incident.
The case was registered under BNS sections 272 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 274 (adulteration of food or drink intended for sale) and 275 (sale of noxious food or drink).
In Sept last year, a juice vendor, Amir, was arrested for allegedly mixing his urine into the sugarcane juice in Loni.
In Oct 2024, a 32-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly using her pee to knead the dough to make their chapatis and parathas.
