US President Donald Trump wasted no time making a dramatic statement after being sworn in as the 47th President of the United States. Shortly after taking the oath of office, Trump signed his first executive orders at a packed Capitol One Arena in Washington.
After signing the documents, Trump turned to a tray of ceremonial pens laid out before him, selected one, and flung it into the cheering crowd. The moment electrified the arena, prompting applause and cheers.
Without missing a beat, Trump grabbed the remaining pens and tossed them one by one to supporters at the front and on the sides.
Vice President JD Vance and other newly sworn-in cabinet members on stage joined in the excitement, cheering and applauding as the crowd surged forward, capturing the moment on phones and waving their newly acquired presidential souvenirs.
“What a great feeling,” Trump later told reporters when asked about returning to the Oval Office. “One of the better feelings I’ve ever had.”
Trump’s first round of executive orders include:
- Reversing 78 executive actions implemented during Biden’s presidency.
- Implementing a regulatory pause to prevent civil servants from issuing regulations until Trump’s administration assumes complete governmental control.
- Instituting a federal employment freeze, excluding military and select crucial sectors.
- Mandating federal employees to resume full-time office attendance.
- Instructing all governmental departments and agencies to tackle the rising cost of living.
- Withdrawing the United States from the Paris climate agreement.
- Establishing a governmental decree to protect freedom of expression and prevent speech censorship.
- Terminating what he terms as “weaponisation of government”.
