Virat Kohli likely to play Delhi's Ranji Trophy match vs Railways

NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli is very likely to play Delhi’s last Ranji Trophy group stage match vs Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium from January 30. It is understood that there has been some conversation between Kohli and the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), and they are optimistic on his participation in the fixture.
“Virat Kohli was advised 10 days rest is what we last heard and there is a bright possibility of him turning up for the last game vs Railways which is in Delhi from January 30. The neck sprain didn’t permit him to play the game vs Saurashtra but it will be great if he plays the home game,” says a senior DDCA official.

The men’s senior selection committee chaired by Gursharan Singh had initially named Kohli in the 22-member squad for the game vs Saurashtra with the rider of “subject to availability” but the list was later pruned to 21. The official list uploaded on the association’s website states that the team is for the next two matches but it is reliably learnt that a meeting will be convened again soon to pick the team for last group stage fixture of the season.
As TimesofIndia.com had reported, Kohli had a sprain in the neck and also took an injection for the same. If all stays on track, Kohli will play a Ranji Trophy match after 13 years. There are strong indications of the former India captain training with the Ranji team before the match and more clarity is expected in the coming days.
