NEW DELHI: The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has called upon Hindu youth to take proactive steps in tackling population decline, cultural degradation, and rising drug addiction. A resolution passed during the central trustee board meeting in Prayagraj highlighted these concerns and urged immediate action on Friday.
VHP joint general secretary Surendra Jain warned that the declining Hindu population could have serious consequences for the nation’s identity and existence. He said that Hindu youth have always played a pivotal role in addressing national challenges and must now step forward to safeguard their community’s future.
According to Jain, delayed marriages and misleading notions of a “bright future” are major factors contributing to the falling birth rate. The VHP advocated for early marriages, suggesting 25 as an ideal age, and encouraged families to have at least two or three children for a balanced demographic structure.
The resolution also expressed concern over the weakening of traditional family values due to Western materialism, urban Naxal conspiracies, and corporate influence through media and advertisements. The VHP pointed to a rise in extramarital affairs and live-in relationships as indicators of this cultural erosion. It urged youth to reconnect with their roots to ensure strong family bonds and provide social and emotional security to children and the elderly.
Addressing the alarming rise in drug abuse, the VHP highlighted that over 160 million Indians are addicted to substances, posing a severe societal threat. It called upon youth to avoid self-destructive habits and actively contribute to making their communities drug-free. The organisation encouraged collaboration with Bajrang Dal, Durga Vahini, and other allied groups to combat drug addiction at the grassroots level.
Additionally, the VHP urged the government to take strict measures against drug mafias and their links to terrorism. It demanded stronger legislation to curb drug trafficking and ensure stricter enforcement. The organisation pledged to raise awareness through its vast network of branches, religious congregations, and cultural training centres, mobilising youth to counter these pressing social challenges.
