Melania Trump and Usha Vance accompanied their husbands to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the cemetery where Donald Trump participated in a wreath-laying ceremony. Clad in black and white, Melania Trump and Usha Vance projected a picture in contrast at the event.
Melania Trump is around 5 feet 9 inches tall while Usha Vance is around 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall. Both the women were wearing heels at the event.
From the Arlington National Cemetry, Usha Vance turned heads as she chose to wear a couture Oscar de la Renta dress to the vice president’s banquet.
JD Vance received a special message from India ahead of the inauguration ceremony as Usha Vance’s grandaunt, Professor C Santhamma, congratulated both of them for their new positions. “We are related to Usha (Vance) through marital relations… We feel extremely happy… We congratulate both of you on having a very, very happy conduct of the country’s destiny and the relationship of your country with our country and we feel extremely happy about the same and wish you a very long life and a happy, happy stay,” Usha’s grandaunt said.
Usha Vance is the daughter of Indian immigrants who trace their roots to Andhra Pradesh. Usha, born and brought up in the US, completed her education at prestigious institutions such as Cambridge and Yale University. She met JD Vance during her studies at Yale Law School.
JD Vance in his bestseller memoir Hillbilly Elegy described his experience of meeting Usha’s parents and how there was no drama. “I was amazed at the lack of drama. Usha’s mother didn’t complain about her father behind his back. There were no angry exchanges or back-and-forth arguments. Usha’s parents seems to genuinely like each other and spoke of their family members with love,” JD wrote.
