UP groom duped: Woman vanishes during wedding with jewellery, cash

NEW DELHI: In a bizarre turn of events in Khajni, a bride fled mid-wedding with jewellery and cash, leaving her 40-year-old groom stranded.
The incident took place at Shiv Temple in Bharohiya, where Kamlesh Kumar was undergoing the rituals for his second marriage, having lost his first wife.
Kamlesh, a farmer from Govindpur village in Sitapur, revealed he had paid a mediator Rs 30,000 to arrange the marriage.
Police confirmed that no formal complaint has been lodged yet.
According to Kamlesh, the bride and her mother arrived at the temple on Friday, while he attended with his family.
Kamlesh claimed he had already gifted the woman sarees, beauty products, jewellery and covered the wedding expenses.
However, during the rituals, the bride excused herself to use the bathroom and never came back. Her mother also vanished from the scene.
“I just wanted to rebuild my family but ended up losing everything,” Kamlesh told reporters.
Superintendent of Police (South) Jitendra Kumar stated that while no complaint has been registered, the matter will be investigated if someone comes forward.
