UP ATS arrests Kanpur ordnance factory employee for leaking defence secrets to Pakistani agent via social media
The Uttar Pradesh ATS has arrested Kumar Vikas from the Kanpur Ordnance Factory for allegedly leaking sensitive information to a suspected Pakistani agent, Neha Sharma.

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Wednesday arrested Kumar Vikas, a Junior Works Manager at the Kanpur Ordnance Factory, for allegedly leaking sensitive and classified information to a suspected Pakistani intelligence agent via social media.
Earlier, on March 13, 2025, ATS Uttar Pradesh had arrested Ravindra Kumar, an employee at the Ordnance Factory in Hazratpur, Firozabad, for conspiring with the suspected Pakistani agent identified as Neha Sharma.
Additional Director General of Police, ATS, Nilabja Chaudhary, said that during investigations, ATS received information that Kumar Vikas was involved in sharing confidential information from the Kanpur Ordnance Factory with an agent.
“Upon investigation, ATS identified Kumar Vikas, a resident of Kanpur Dehat district, currently residing at C-131 New Highwacity, Naramau, under Bithoor police station, Kanpur Nagar. Kumar Vikas had come into contact with the alleged Pakistani agent Neha Sharma through Facebook in January 2025,” said Chaudhary.
The suspect, Neha Sharma (believed to be a fake identity), introduced herself as an employee of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and shared her WhatsApp number with Kumar Vikas.
“To maintain secrecy, Kumar Vikas used the Ludo app to communicate with the alleged agent. Driven by financial greed, Kumar Vikas allegedly provided sensitive documents, equipment details, ammunition production data, employee attendance sheets, machine layouts, and production-related charts of the Kanpur Ordnance Factory to Neha Sharma,” ADG added.
The ATS stated that the leaked information could severely compromise India’s unity, integrity, and sovereignty, posing a significant threat to national security.
Consequently, an FIR was registered at the ATS police station in Lucknow under Section 148 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3/4/5 of the Official Secrets Act.
