Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson made an explosive claim in the latest episode of his podcast that the Joe Biden administration tried to assassinate Russian president Vladimir Putin. “The Biden administration did, they tried to kill Putin,” the former Fox News anchor said. “Which is insane,” Carlson added. “That’s demented, that you would even think of something like that. So why were they? Because chaos is a screen that protects them.” Carlson, however, did not back his claim up with any evidence and the statement was part of his conversation with his guest journalist Matt Taibbi.
Carlson suggested that many former and current US officials have been rattled by President Donald Trump’s campaign to declassify numerous government papers, as they see the potential fallout as extremely dangerous,” Carlson said. “I think this was one of the reasons [ex-Secretary of State] Tony Blinken was pushing so hard for a real war, trying to kill Putin, for example… The Biden administration did [it], they tried to kill Putin,” Carlson said. “Who takes over Russia? What happens to the nuclear arsenal in a country so complex that outsiders can’t even understand… That’s demented that you would even think about something like that,” he added.
Russian state media said Putin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov reacted to the statement and said, “Russian intelligence agencies consistently take all necessary measures to ensure public safety and the security of those under state protection, especially the head of state.”
