Tragic Shooting of Hyderabad Student in Washington Leaves Family Devastated | Hyderabad News

'My son went with dreams, now returning as dead body': Kin devastated as Hyderabad student shot dead in US

HYDERABAD: The family of a 26-year-old student, Ravi Teja, from Hyderabad, who was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Washington, is shattered on learning about the incident.
“He went with goals. This is not how we imagined he would return,” the student Ravi Teja’s father, Chandramouli, said on Monday on coming to know about the news.
“My son went with dreams but now is returning as a dead body. How can I bear this grief? No one should go through what I am going through,” Chandramouli said.
The family received information that Ravi Teja was killed when an assailant opened fire. They do not have exact information as to when and at what time the incident happened. Ravi Teja went to the US to pursue his master’s.
After he completed his studies, he was on the lookout for a job. The shooting incident was reported to have happened at a gas station, though it is not confirmed yet.
Friends and relatives made a beeline to the house of Chandramouli, who was inconsolable. “This is such a hopeless situation for me,” he said, mourning the death of his son.
“The circumstances surrounding the shooting are currently under investigation,” the North American Association of Indian Students (NAAIS) based in New York said on Monday. “Ravi Teja, 26, arrived from Hyderabad on an F1 visa to pursue an MBA in 2022. The incident occurred at a gas station. Authorities are exploring all angles, including hate crime. This happens hours before President Donald Trump is inaugurated for his second term,” NAAIS said.
