Top maoist leaders surrender in Andhra Pradesh, police term it a major breakthrough | India News

RAJAHMUNDRY: In a major blow to maoists, the top brass of the banned outfit surrendered before the police. As many as 10 maoists, including one Divisional Committee Member, one Area Committee Member, three Platoon Party Committee Members (PPCM), one RPC President of DAKMS, one RPC Militia, one Militia Commander, one RPC Chaitanya Natya Mandali (CNM) member, and one Balalasangham RPC of the CPI (Maoist) party—disillusioned with the Maoist ideology—surrendered before Amit Bardar, Superintendent of Police, Alluri Sitarama Raju District, on Friday.
The surrendered maoists include Kadithi Rama, a native of Sukma district; Kadithi Mangli, a native of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh; Kovvasi Sukki, a native of Sukma district; Sodi Raju and Sodi Kosa, both natives of Bijapur district; Badisa Bhimaiah, a native of Bijapur district; Madakam Pojja, a native of Bijapur district; Kalumula Rama, a native of Bijapur district; and Muchaki Ganga, a native of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh.
Key involvements of the surrendered maoists:

Kadithi Rama was involved in the 2006 attack on the National Mineral Development Corporation to loot weapons, resulting in the death of eight police personnel. He also participated in the 2007 attack on the Murakinar Police Camp in Bijapur district, where 11 security personnel were killed, and 49 weapons were looted. In 2009, he was part of an Exchange of Fire (EOF) at Laheri village, where 17 security personnel were killed. In 2011, he was involved in an EOF at Jaragati village, which led to the death of five security personnel.

Kadithi Mangli participated in the 2021 EOF at Jeeraguda near Jonnaguda, on the border of Bijapur and Sukma districts, where 52 security personnel were killed, and four maoists died. In 2022, she was involved in an EOF at Pothkal village in Bijapur district, which resulted in the death of one security personnel.

Kovvasi Sukki, who was promoted to Area Committee Member (ACM), was involved in an EOF at Doraguda, where six maoists were killed.

Sodi Raju took part in a 2016 EOF where three security personnel were killed. In 2017, he was involved in the Burkapal attack, which resulted in the death of 25 security personnel. In 2015, he was responsible for the killing of 12 security personnel. Additionally, in 2017, he participated in the Bejji ambush, which also claimed the lives of 12 security personnel.

Sodi Kosa was involved in an EOF at Vempa village, where three maoists and 12 police personnel were killed. In 2021, he participated in the Jeeraguda EOF, resulting in the death of 31 security personnel and three maoists.

The police described the surrender as a significant breakthrough in their ongoing efforts to curb Maoist activities in the region.
