TMCP neta stabbed to death in Titagarh during Holi brawl over protest against drunken ruckus
A 24-year-old TMCP functionary, Akash Choudhury, was stabbed to death in Titagarh during Holi celebrations after protesting against drunken youths causing a ruckus.

KOLKATA: A 24-year-old Trinamool Congress Chatra Parishad (TMCP) functionary, Akash Choudhury, alias Amar, was stabbed to death by a group of drunken youths in Titagarh during Holi celebrations on Friday afternoon. The attack occurred after Amar protested against their drunken brawl.
Witnesses reported that amidst the festive enthusiasm, Amar, a BA third-year student of Barrackpore Mahadevananda College and a resident of Titagarh Fakir Ghat Road, was repeatedly stabbed after he tried to prevent the drunken youths from creating a ruckus in the area. He was rushed to RG Kar Hospital in a critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.
Police arrested Pawan Rajbhar, the prime suspect who allegedly masterminded the attack, and his father, Rajkumar Rajbhar, who allegedly helped his son execute the attack. A manhunt has been launched for two other accused, Kanhai Tiwari and Raj Tiwari, who went into hiding after committing the murder.
Pawan and Raj were remanded in police custody for seven days.
Locals launched an agitation demanding the immediate arrest of all culprits and exemplary punishment for the accused.
According to sources, the incident took place around 4:30 pm at Titagarh’s PK Biswas Road near Jayshree Chemicals in ward 13 of Khardah Municipality. “Amar was called out from his house under the pretext of Holi celebration. As soon as he arrived, a group of drunk youths smeared him and others with colours before creating a ruckus, using abusive language. When Amar protested, the trio attacked him with knives, stabbing him multiple times,” said a local trader. Amar collapsed on the road, bleeding profusely. He was later declared dead at RG Kar.
According to police, Pawan has a criminal history. “He was previously arrested at least thrice under the NDPS and Arms Act and released on bail barely a fortnight ago,” said a senior officer of Barrackpore Police Commissionerate.
DCP (Central) Indrabadan Jha of Barrackpore Police Commissionerate visited the spot. He said, “Three individuals allegedly stabbed a youth to death. We have already arrested two accused.”
A murder case has been registered against Pawan Rajbhar, Rajkumar Rajbhar, Raj Tiwari, and Kanhai Tiwari.
Krishna Choudhury, the victim’s brother, claimed that Amar earlier feared an attempt on his life after getting death threats from the accused.
