VIJAYAWADA: A 108 ambulance ran over devotees walking towards Tirumala, killing two women and injuring three others. The accident occurred near Narasingapuram in Chandragiri mandal, Tirupati district.
The victims were part of a group of devotees walking from Punganur to Tirumala. As they reached Narasingapuram, the ambulance, reportedly transporting a patient from Madanapalle to Tirupati, lost control and ploughed into them.
The deceased were identified as Lakshmamma (45) and Pedda Reddamma (40), residents of Chempalapalli in Ramasamudram mandal, Annamayya district. The injured were rushed to Ruia Hospital in Tirupati for treatment.
Police are investigating the incident.
