IDUKKI: At least three people, including one woman died and several others sustained injuries when a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus plunged into a gorge near Pullupara in the hilly region early on Monday morning, according to police reports.
The vehicle, which was transporting 34 passengers, was en route to Mavelikara in Alappuzha district after completing its journey from Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu when the accident took place at around 6am.
The deceased victims’ remains have been transported to a private medical facility in Mundakayam.
Authorities confirmed that the bodies will be released to family members following completion of the post-mortem examination.
Police and fire and rescue services personnel were swiftly deployed to conduct rescue operations, officers added.
