Vikas Namdev (26), a Class XII dropout from MP’s Katni, funded his extravagant lifestyle by stealing from trains. Craving a rosogulla, he once flew to Kolkata just for a bite, returning the same night. He did the same for a Scotch in Goa. Known for flaunting branded clothes and jewellery, Namdev was caught at Vadodara station with gold ornaments worth Rs 34 lakh. For three months, he targeted women passengers on trains between Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Surat, boarding early morning to steal from sleeping victims. He used stolen Aadhaar cards for bookings and posed as a textile trader. He has confessed to multiple thefts, cops said.
While in Delhi, Vikas Namdev (26) craved an authentic rosogulla. But he didn’t settle for a local sweet shop. Instead he booked a flight to Kolkata, indulged in the treat, and returned the same night. He did the same when he felt like sipping an expensive Scotch on Goa’s beaches only to fly back within hours of splurging.
