The Philadelphia Eagles have provided a concerning update on star quarterback Jalen Hurts' status heading into the playoffs

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts remains in concussion protocol, and his availability for the NFC wild-card playoff game against the Green Bay Packers could be up in the air until later this week. Head coach Nick Sirianni said the Eagles did not have any new information on Hurts, who has missed the last two games since sustaining a head injury on December 22. The next update will come on Wednesday with the first postseason practice and injury report.

Jalen Hurts is still in concussion protocol

The Philadelphia Eagles have announced that star quarterback Jalen Hurts is still in concussion protocol, weeks after sustaining an injury. NFL insider Adam Schefter posted on social media that Hurts’ progress has not been as expected due to his extended absence. “Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is still in concussion protocol,” Schefter’s post read on Twitter.

Jalen Hurts suffered a concussion last December 22, forcing him to miss the final two games of the season. Kenny Pickett takes his place. His status threw Philadelphia’s gameplan into disarray, particularly if he is out for their game against Green Bay Packers.
According to board-certified family and sports medicine physician Jesse Morse, the star has five more days to complete concussion protocol and prepare for a major playoff matchup. “It’s unclear what stage he is in (1-5), likely 2 or 3,” his post began. “Wednesday will be an important day. If he isn’t able to get a limited practice in by Thursday it will be VERY difficult for him to clear the protocol to play on Sunday.”
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has not provided any new information on Hurts’ status or availability, but stated that Philadelphia can rely on its two backup quarterbacks in case Hurts is unable to play. “I got a lot of confidence in both guys [Kenny Pickett and Tanner McKee],” Sirianni said. “I think when Kenny’s had to play, he’s played really well. When Tanner’s had to play, he’s played really well. So we got a really good room. Obviously Jalen has had an outstanding season. So we just have a great room.”

“Credit to Howie Roseman and his staff for getting these guys in here and then just a great job by these guys and taking advantage of their opportunities. And great job by Kellen [Moore], Kevin [Patulo], helping these guys develop. And so we feel really, really good about the room and where we are.”

The Eagles are uncertain if Hurts would be available in the game versus Packers, while injuries are a cause for Green Bay, and the wideout Christian Watson won’t be with the team throughout the postseason as well as into 2025. Jordan Love from Packers is the other star and has an injury issue, reportedly telling reporters he lost feeling in his throwing arm during Green Bay’s loss to the Chicago Bears after injuring his elbow.
