President Joe Biden continued the longstanding tradition of outgoing US presidents leaving a letter for their successors. Biden confirmed on Monday that he has written a note for President-elect Donald Trump, who is set to be sworn in as the 47th president of the United States.
When asked by reporters outside the White House if he had written a letter, Biden replied, “Yes,” but declined to share further details about its contents.

“That’s between Trump and me,” he said, according to reports.
The tradition of outgoing presidents leaving a letter for their successors has been observed for decades. In 2021, Trump left a letter for Biden, which the latter later described as “very generous.”
In a tradition started by Ronald Regan in 1989 and cemented by his successor George HW Bush in 1993, outgoing US presidents leave their successors a letter welcoming them to the presidency and encouraging them to work for the nation’s betterment.
Trump will officially assume office in an indoor ceremony moved from its original outdoor location due to cold weather.
