Tesla recently highlighted its Sentry Mode feature on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Smile, you’re on camera.” This security system utilizes the vehicle’s external cameras and sensors to monitor surroundings when parked and locked. Upon detecting suspicious activity, Sentry Mode records footage and, if necessary, activates the alarm system. Owners receive real-time alerts via the Tesla mobile app, and all footage is stored locally within the vehicle.
India’s quick commerce platform Blinkit responded to Tesla’s post with a nerd face emoji, indicating a lighthearted acknowledgment of the technology.
What is Tesla Sentry mode
Tesla’s Sentry Mode is a security feature that monitors and records activity around a parked vehicle using its external cameras and sensors. When enabled, it detects potential threats and responds by pulsing the headlights, displaying a warning on the touchscreen, sounding the alarm, and notifying the owner via the Tesla mobile app. Additionally, it saves footage locally on the car.
To activate Sentry Mode, owners can use voice commands, the Tesla mobile app, or navigate through the vehicle’s touchscreen controls. It’s important to note that Sentry Mode requires the vehicle’s battery to be above 20% to function.
“Enable Sentry Mode for your car to alert you of & record potential threats. You can also look at what’s happening around your car in real time & review + save footage directly in the Tesla app,” Tesla wrote in an X post.
Elon Musk calls Tesla Sentry Mode ‘bad news for criminals’
Quoting the X post, Musk wrote “Tesla Sentry Mode captures video of anyone attempting to harm it.”
“Bad news for criminals,” he added.
Earlier today, Twitter (now X) founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey announced his support for tesla on X. in a post, Doresy wrote “i love tesla”.
