SILIGURI: An assistant manager at a tea garden in Phansidewa block of Darjeeling district’s Siliguri subdivision was killed by a garden worker on Thursday, reports Roshan Gupta. The accused, Elthrus Ekka, has been arrested.
Nilanjan Bhadra, who worked at Jayantika Tea Garden, was struck from behind on the neck with a sharp weapon, at the plantation. He died on the spot. Police claimed that the accused, Elthrus Ekka, had confessed to the crime, saying he attacked the victim because the latter had falsely implicated him in a fraud involving Rs 70,000.
The tea garden was sealed off and forensic experts collected evidence before the body was sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for the post-mortem, police said.
