Supreme Court refuses to take up KTR's plea to quash FIR in Formula-E 'scam'

NEW DELHI: Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to entertain a plea of BRS MLA K T Ram Rao seeking quashing of criminal proceedings against him in the alleged Formula-E race ‘scam’.
The MLA moved SC challenging Telangana HC’s order refusing to quash an FIR against him. A bench of Justices Bela M Trivedi and P B Varale said that it was not inclined to interfere at this stage.
FIR against Rao is filed under Section 409 (criminal breach of trust), criminal conspiracy under Section 120(B) of IPC as well as Section 13(1)(a) and 13(2) (criminal misconduct by public servant) of Prevention of Corruption Act.
Lawyer, appearing for the politician, submitted that case was registered against him out of political vendetta and pleaded court to intervene. The court, however, was not inclined and petitioner thereafter sought to withdraw his plea which was allowed by court.
