KOLKATA: Demanding immediate declaration of student union elections, Left-wing student union members went on a rampage at Jadavpur University Saturday, heckling Bengal education minister Bratya Basu, ransacking his meeting venue, damaging his car, thrashing professors and setting fire to a university staff office, reports Poulami Roy.
Basu, who was at the university to address annual general meet of TMC-aligned WBCUPA, tried to reason with the students but they were in no mood to listen.
