India’s coffee industry is witnessing a shift as consumers move from instant coffee to specialty brews and advanced home brewing methods. Experts attribute this change to rising disposable incomes, global exposure, and evolving taste preferences.
Urban consumers are increasingly opting for high-quality, single-origin beans and artisanal brewing techniques. “People want to control how their coffee is brewed, focusing on flavor and freshness,” said a coffee expert.
Demand for home coffee machines is also increasing, particularly in metro cities. Compact, fully automated machines offering café-style beverages are gaining popularity. According to the Costar Cosmo team, “Consumers are willing to invest in advanced brewing equipment that delivers café-quality coffee without requiring professional skills.”
A recent Mintel report found that 73% of coffee consumers believe cultural diversity enhances brand credibility. Experts also note that Gen Z consumers are more inclined to trust collective knowledge over individual endorsements.
