South Africa secured a resounding 10-wicket victory over Pakistan on Monday, clinching the two-match Test series at Newlands in Cape Town. After enforcing the follow-on, the hosts bowled out Pakistan for 478 in their second innings. South Africa then comfortably chased down the modest target of 58 runs in just 7.1 overs without losing a wicket.
This victory marks South Africa’s fourth consecutive Test series win, solidifying their top position in the 2023-25 World Test Championship. It also equals India’s record of seven successive WTC match wins.

India achieved this feat during the 2019-21 WTC cycle, winning their first seven matches. New Zealand matched this record in the same cycle, but neither team has surpassed it.

South Africa’s impressive streak began in August 2024 with a 40-run victory over the West Indies in the second Test at Providence Stadium in Guyana.
They continued their winning form in Bangladesh, securing a 7-wicket win in the first Test in Mirpur and an innings and 273-run victory in the second Test in Chattogram.
Returning home, South Africa hosted Sri Lanka, winning both matches convincingly. They triumphed by 233 runs in Durban and 109 runs in Gqeberha.
In their most recent series, against Pakistan, South Africa claimed a close 2-wicket win in the first Test at Centurion before their dominant 10-wicket victory in Cape Town.
The record for the most consecutive WTC wins as captain belongs to Virat Kohli, who led India to seven straight victories in the inaugural cycle.
India’s journey began with a 318-run win over the West Indies in North Sound in August 2019, followed by a 257-run victory in the second Test of the series.
India then hosted South Africa, securing three comprehensive wins by margins of 203 runs, an innings and 137 runs, and an innings and 202 runs.
Their final series in that winning streak was against Bangladesh, where they won both matches by an innings and 130 runs, and an innings and 46 runs, respectively.
