MUMBAI: Minister of state for home Yogesh Kadam Thursday told Maharashtra legislative assembly that the SIT probe into the Disha Salian death case would be fasttracked and “no one will be spared.” The statement was made after the assembly was adjourned for ten minutes after BJP and Shiv Sena MLAs demanded a thorough probe into the case and asked when the SIT, formed in Dec 2022 to probe the matter, would conclude its investigation and submit its report. Opposition demand came a day after Disha’s father Satish prepared a petition to be filed in Bombay HC asking for a fresh probe into her death and “custodial interrogation” of Sena UBT MLA Aaditya Thackeray.
Kadam said SIT probe was ongoing and its report had not been submitted yet. “Salian’s father filed a petition in HC, state has also been made party to it. So once we get directions from HC, we will take stern and appropriate action. The law is the same for all, we will not spare anyone,” he said.
Disha Salian, ex-manager of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8, 2020. The issue was raised by BJP MLA Ameet Satam through a point of information and backed by Sena MLA Arjun Khotkar and Sena minister Shambhuraje Desai.
The legislative council was also adjourned three times as leader of opposition from Sena UBT Ambadas Danve and minister Girish Mahajan engaged in a verbal spat, with the Disha Salian issue raised through a point of information by Sena MLC Manisha Kayande leading to the second adjournment. Opposition accused chairman Ram Shinde of bias, and Sena UBT MLC Anil Parab reacted strongly to the point of information.
Satam said in the assembly, “There is big suspicion about this case. Even after 2 years, the SIT has not given any conclusion. Now Disha’s father has alleged Disha was gang-raped and murdered. He has said the MVA govt tried to bury the case..,this is very unfortunate. The govt must tell what SIT has done so far.” BJP’s Chitra Wagh demanded that the SIT report be made public, while BJP’s Uma Khapre said Salian’s father, in his petition, stated the family was under constant surveillance.
