Shark Tank India 4: Pitcher Gaurav Taneja vlogs about his experience of being in the tank, reveals there was 'garma-garmi' and 'nok-jhok'; says 'It was an interesting shoot'

Gaurav Taneja, a YouTuber with over nine million subscribers, discussed competing on the reality show Shark Tank India, which recently launched its fourth season. In his most recent vlog, he discussed his experience on the show and promised his supporters plenty of ‘masala’. He acknowledged butting heads with some ‘sharks’ and denied rumours that he earned Rs 1 lakh per hour from his whey protein business, which he promoted on the show.
He stated that he had no intention of appearing on Shark Tank, and his wife, Ritu Rathee, agreed that there was too much risk. During the pitch, he alluded to ‘garma-garmi’ and stated that there was ‘nok-jhok’ between him and the ‘sharks’. “There will be enough masala in the episode,” he added, adding that his CEO was concerned that appearing on Shark Tank might backfire. “What if they dislike the product? Gaurav recounted being cautioned, “It’ll blow up in our faces,” citing how a founder was accused of ‘misleading’ customers last season. “I think it was unfair how Deepinder Goyal and Mr Mittal treated him,” replied Gaurav.
He explained that he chose to pitch on the show after one of his investors encouraged him to. Explaining reports that he earns Rs 1 crore per hour. He said, “You are watching this on January 14. My Shark Tank episode will air on January 15. People have started thinking that I earn Rs 1 crore in one hour, but that’s not how it works. That’s only revenue; it isn’t money in the bank or money in the pocket. It’s a start-up; whatever we earn, we put back into the business. Don’t believe everything you watch on business channels on YouTube. You have to understand how the internet works.”
He further added, “It was an interesting shoot; it happened in September. I would prefer that you watch the episode first, and then we can talk in detail about it. But a lot of people are saying that Gaurav only went on the show to market his brand and that I didn’t need funding at all. I wanted both, marketing and money. You can’t run a business without them. We went for both, it’s not like we didn’t want the marketing. We did. The biggest companies of the world want marketing.”
