Sea bill gets Lok Sabha nod, seeks to end Raj-era law

New Delhi: Lok Sabha passed Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill by voice vote on Friday, amid concerns raised by the opposition on creating private monopoly on management of ports.
Ports and shipping minister Sarbananda Sonowal said the bill, which provides for defined responsibilities for carriers, will help in getting rid of all vestiges of the colonial mindset and ensure ease of understanding and ease of doing business through rationalised law. TNN
