Samsung India workers strike: Company files complaint against ‘certain’ employees

CHENNAI: Samsung India on Friday night said it has filed complaints with the relevant authorities against certain employees who have violated company policies.
The company statement came after conciliation talks between the employees’ union and the management did not yield any positive resolution to end a strike by a section of workers that began on Feb 6. The workers were demanding that the company revoke the suspension of three employees.
In a late night statement to TOI, a Samsung India spokesperson said, “A section of our workers is engaged in an illegal strike on the Chennai factory premises, while most of our dedicated workers continue to ensure that production remains uninterrupted. We have filed official complaints with the relevant authorities against certain employees who have violated company policy. At Samsung, we are compliant with all applicable laws.”
The protest by a section of workers on Samsung Indian plant near Chennai will continue as conciliation talks failed. The meeting was convened by the Tamil Nadu labour department.
The union affiliated to CITU would soon announce the next round of protests, its president E Muthukumar said.
