The intruder, armed with a hacksaw blade, managed to enter the high-profile residence without any visible signs of forced entry. According to DCP (Zone IX) Dikshit Gedam, CCTV footage captured the suspect leaving the building through the fire exit staircase, even glancing at the camera on his way out. However, how he gained initial access remains unclear.
The domestic help, Eliyamma Phillip, who filed the complaint, revealed that she first heard noises around 2.30am mistaking it for Khan’s wife, Kareena Kapoor, checking on their son Jeh, she dismissed it initially.
Moments later, she noticed a shadow of the man emerging from the bathroom and attempting to enter Jeh’s bedroom. Phillip immediately raised an alarm, forcing the intruder to flee.
The incident has exposed glaring security lapses at the 13-story Satguru Sharan building.
Police officials noted that there were no personal guards stationed at the flat or entrance to monitor visitors or respond to emergencies.
The building society also lacked a register logbook to track visitors entering or exiting the premises.
“We are genuinely surprised that such a high-profile couple does not have robust security measures in place. This incident is a wake-up call not just for them but for others in similar positions,” said a senior investigating officer.
Bandra police have launched a massive manhunt, forming ten teams along with seven crime branch teams to track the suspect.
The man is believed to have scaled a wall to enter the building.
This incident has sent shockwaves through Bollywood and has prompted serious questions about security in elite residential complexes, highlighting the urgent need for stricter monitoring and safety protocols in such areas.
