NEW DELHI: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is currently recovering following a stabbing incident at his Bandra residence early Thursday morning. The 54-year-old actor sustained multiple stab wounds, including injuries to his neck and near the spine, during an attack by an intruder.
After undergoing emergency surgery at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital, doctors have confirmed that Saif’s condition is stable, and he is expected to be discharged within the next two to three days.

Dr Nitin Dange, a neurosurgeon at Lilavati Hospital, shared an update, said, “We are observing his progress, and he is doing excellently well according to our expectations. If he remains comfortable, we plan to discharge him in two to three days.”
Saif has been moved out of the ICU and is currently on a normal diet, taking short walks as part of his recovery process.

CCTV footage from the actor’s building shows the suspect ascending the stairs with his face covered and carrying a bag. Police are analyzing this video, along with footage from a nearby mobile phone store where the suspect was spotted hours after the attack.
Mumbai police intensifies search operation for accused
The Mumbai Police has mobilised 20 Crime Branch teams to apprehend the attacker. Efforts include questioning individuals with prior criminal records and those found loitering at night. More than 15 suspects were brought in for questioning on Friday, but no arrests have been made.
Saif’s Attacker remains at large; minister rules out underworld link
Despite extensive efforts involving over 30 police teams, the intruder remains at large. Maharashtra authorities have ruled out any underworld connection to the attack. According to police, the attacker likely had no idea whose house he had entered.
A carpenter resembling the attacker was detained for questioning but later released, with officials confirming no connection to the case.
‘I Am Saif Ali Khan’: Auto driver recalls incident
Bhajan Singh Rana, an auto-rickshaw driver, recounted how he unknowingly transported the injured actor to the hospital. “It was only at the hospital gate that he called the guard, saying he was Saif Ali Khan,” Rana shared. He described seeing Khan in a blood-soaked kurta, accompanied by a woman and a child, believed to be his son, Taimur.
Kareena Kapoor records statement to Bandra police
Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif’s wife, recorded her statement with Bandra Police on Friday evening. Police officials confirmed that over 30 statements have been collected so far as part of the investigation.
Knife fragment removed from actor’s spine
Doctors removed a 2.5-inch fragment of the knife that was lodged close to Saif’s spinal cord. An image of the fragment has surfaced, providing insight into the severity of the attack. The surgery has been declared successful, with Khan now “out of danger.”
Security lapses and details of the incident
Investigators revealed that Saif’s residence lacked surveillance cameras, with the attacker captured only in common area footage. The suspect reportedly entered via a duct, as there were no signs of forced entry.
A house help, Philip, recalled waking up to find the intruder near the bed of Saif’s youngest son, Jeh. During the confrontation, the attacker demanded Rs 1 crore, leading to a violent scuffle when Saif intervened.
Political outcry over law and order in Maharashtra
The incident has drawn criticism from opposition leaders over the state’s law and order situation. NCP leader Sharad Pawar questioned citizen safety, saying, “If celebrities are unsafe, what about common citizens?” Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also extended his support, urging stronger public safety measures.
