The Times of India’s Right to Excellence Online School Summit on Wednesday brought together industry leaders, educators, policymakers, and parents for a thought-provoking discussion on the future of online education.
Held in New Delhi in association with 21K School, the event focused on improving digital infrastructure, enhancing the online learning experience, and addressing parental concerns.
The panel ‘The joy of online schooling, a parent’s perspective’ included actors Karanvir Bohra and Tisca Chopra, along with financial influencers Neha Nagar and Daksh Sethi.
During the Q&A session, an audience member asked Tisca Chopra, who starred in ‘Taare Zameen Par’, how she would imagine a sequel in the era of online education.” I think with online school, you can probably pick the subject you want to excel in, like arts. Probably his father would understand, and I would be happy not to send him to a hostel,” she said.
Karanvir Bohra called online schooling a game-changer during the pandemic. “I think online schooling came as a big boon during Covid,” he said, highlighting how it provided a viable alternative when traditional schooling was disrupted.
Financial influencer Neha Nagar highlighted the untapped potential of online schooling in teaching life skills. “Online schooling can be a great way to teach financial health—something not taught in traditional schools. It’s a gap that can be filled,” she said.
The summit featured a series of engaging panel discussions, offering diverse perspectives on the future of online education. The programme opened with a keynote speech by Pankaj Arora, Chairperson of NIOS and Chairman of NCTE.
This was followed by a talk by Ronnie Screwvala, Chairperson of UpGrad, who spoke about future-proofing education and careers in a disruptive world.
Panels also covered topics like online vs offline education and cybersecurity in schools, sparking meaningful conversations about balancing innovation with student safety and well-being.
