RPF detrains suspect in Saif Ali Khan attack case from Jnaneshwari express in Chhattisgarh

RAIPUR: Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district has detained a person at Durg railway station who is suspected to be assailant of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. The detained individual identified as Akash Kanojia, 30, was travelling in the general coach of Jnaneshwari Express.
RPF Durg TI Sanjeev Kumar Sinha told TOI that they were inspecting trains arriving from Mumbai when they spotted the suspect. “As per inputs provided by the Mumbai police, we caught the suspect who identified himself as Akash Kanojia. The Mumbai police will be arriving tonight to take the suspect at around 8 pm.”
When questioned about the suspect’s background details, the RPF inspector said that Mumbai Police would handle the interrogation and didn’t divulge further details. The RPF TI confirmed that the suspect’s appearance matches the photographs and information shared by Mumbai police, based on which, he was taken in custody.
Following Mumbai Police’s leads, Durg RPF apprehended him from Mumbai-Shalimar bound Jnaneshwari Express. The suspect Akash, was on the train that arrived at Durg at approximately 1:30 pm on Saturday.
Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was assaulted and stabbed with a knife at his Mumbai residence late Wednesday. During the incident, the actor sustained six stab wounds to his neck, back, hand, and head. He was subsequently admitted to a private hospital in Mumbai, where his condition was reported as stable.
