BENGALURU/DHARWAD: Karnataka high court dismissed on Friday a petition seeking transfer of investigations into Muda alternative sites allotment case from Lokayukta to CBI, the decision coming as relief to CM Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathy, and others.
HC said office of Lokayukta enjoys institutional integrity and does not suffer from questionable independence. Dismissing the plea, Justice M Nagaprasanna said institutional integrity and independence of Lokayukta will not be forgotten as it is competent to investigate any offence against a sitting CM, as it was done in the past.
“Thus, I hold Lokayukta to be an independent agency, competent to investigate allegations against high functionaries, including the CM,” he said.
