NEW DELHI: Swashbuckling opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was on Saturday expectedly picked in the India squad for the ODI series against England and ICC Champions Trophy.
Jaiswal, who has been in red-hot form recently and represents India in Tests and T20Is, earned his maiden ODI call-up.
The 23-year-old has been picked in the squad as the third opener after skipper Rohit Sharma and his deputy Shubman Gill.

Jaiswal was the star performer for India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Down Under where he was the top run scorer for the Indian team.
The opener scored 391 runs in 5 Tests and averaged an impressive 43.44, scoring a couple of fifties and a ton.
In the shortest format as well, Jaiswal has been in terrific touch, scoring 723 runs in 23 T20Is at a strike rate of 164.31 that includes 5 fifties and a ton.
After his superb show in Australia, it was all but certain that the youngster would be getting his maiden ODI call-up for the England series and the subsequent Champions Trophy.
To go with Jaiswal’s inclusion, chief selector Ajit Agarkar also announced the veteran pacer Mohammed Shami and wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav will also be making their international return after recovering from injuries.
Agarkar also mentioned that pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who was told to off-load after a gruelling BGT series in Australia, may not get fit for the first two ODIs against England. Harshit Rana has been picked as Bumrah’s back for the series.
India play three bilateral ODIs against England on February 6, 9 and 12 — their first 50-over games since the tour of Sri Lanka in August last year — before the Champions Trophy begins on February 19.
