CHANDIGARH: A tense altercation unfolded on Wednesday outside the residence of Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann in Chandigarh between the city police and security personnel of Union minister of state (MoS) Ravneet Singh Bittu.
The incident occurred when Chandigarh police attempted to remove one of Bittu’s security staff from a vehicle.
Both sides exchanged heated words, with the police and the security team accusing each other of obstructing their respective duties.
The confrontation escalated in front of the minister, with intense arguments between Chandigarh Police and Bittu’s security team.
The police claimed that Bittu’s security was breaching established security protocols outside the residence of Bhagwant Mann.
In contrast, Bittu’s security staff contended that the police were preventing them from carrying out their official duties.
Ravneet Singh Bittu was seen attempting to mediate between the two agitated groups in videos that have since gone viral on social media.
Inspector Narender Patial of Chandigarh Police was also observed trying to defuse the situation.
Bittu, who had arrived to meet Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, was ultimately not allowed to enter the CM’s residence. The incident, which drew significant attention, highlighted tensions over security procedures in the state capital.
