NEW DELHI: A chilling, grainy video has surfaced, capturing the final moments of 25-year-old BPO employee Shubhada Kodare in her office parking lot.
The footage shows Kodare on her hands and knees as her attacker looms with a cleaver in hand. A pool of blood forms beside her before the man forces her face to the ground. She never gets up.
At least 20 people witnessed the horrifying attack unfold at the Ramwadi call centre where both Kodare and her assailant worked.
Disturbingly, no one stepped in to help or stop the violence. The video shows some bystanders watching passively, hands on their hips, only acting after the attacker discarded the weapon.
Adding to the horror, police revealed that the attacker was seen making a phone call moments after the assault. Investigators suspect he used Kodare’s phone, potentially while she was speaking to her father.
Whether he interacted with Kodare’s father remains unclear.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect attacked Kodare on her right elbow with a sharp weapon around 6pm in the firm’s parking lot,” said additional commissioner of Police Manoj Patil.
“The attack appears to have stemmed from a dispute over a money borrowing issue.”
Kodare, who was bleeding heavily, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries during treatment, Patil added.
