NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi left Delhi on Monday for a four-day visit to France and the United States. During the trip, he will assess the progress of the 2047 Horizon Roadmap for the India-France strategic partnership.
Visit to France
In France, PM Modi will participate in the AI Action Summit, where India serves as the co-chair.
Following this, he will embark on a two-day visit to the United States at the invitation of President Donald Trump. The agenda includes discussions on strengthening and expanding bilateral ties across various sectors, including trade, technology, and defense, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
“At the invitation of President Macron, I will be visiting France from February 10 to 12. In Paris, I look forward to co-chairing the AI Action Summit, a gathering of world leaders and global tech CEOs, where we will exchange views on a collaborative approach to AI technology for innovation and the larger public good in an inclusive, secure, and trustworthy manner,” PM Modi said in the release.
He added, “The bilateral segment of my visit will provide an opportunity to review the progress of the 2047 Horizon Roadmap for the India-France strategic partnership along with my friend, President Macron.”
According to the PMO, Modi and Macron will also inaugurate India’s first consulate in France, located in Marseille. Additionally, they will tour the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project, where India, alongside France and other partner countries, is collaborating on nuclear energy advancements for global benefit.
“I will also pay tribute to the Indian soldiers who laid down their lives during World Wars I and II at the Mazargues War Cemetery,” he added.
Visit to the United States
PM Modi will then travel to the United States, where he will hold talks with President Donald Trump to enhance India-US cooperation.
“From France, I will proceed on a two-day visit to the United States at the invitation of President Donald Trump. I look forward to meeting my friend, President Trump. Although this will be our first meeting following his historic electoral victory and inauguration in January, I have warm recollections of working together during his first term to build a Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership between India and the US,” PM Modi said.
The discussions will focus on supply chain resilience, trade, technology, energy, and defense.
“We will work together for the mutual benefit of our people and to shape a better future for the world,” he added.
During his visit to Washington, DC, Modi will hold high-level meetings aimed at further strengthening the India-US partnership across various sectors.
