A massive earth mover was deployed to rescue a tusker that became trapped between pillar barriers in Veeranahosally range of Nagarahole Tiger Reserve, Hunsur, Karnataka.
The elephant, caught in the predicament on Saturday night, was successfully freed on Sunday morning when forest department authorities utilised heavy machinery for the rescue operation.
The tusker, known as Nagarahole elephant 1, was radio-collared in 2021 and is estimated to be between 20 to 30 years old.
