The Philadelphia Eagles are in prime position heading into the 2025 NFL Draft, holding eight total selections. With four of those picks clustered in the fifth round, general manager Howie Roseman has built a stockpile of draft capital. But will the Eagles stand pat, or is Roseman gearing up for another aggressive move up the board?
Eagles Trade rumors: Could Philly move up for Walter Nolen?
Roseman has never been one to sit idly by when an opportunity presents itself. NFL.com draft analyst Chad Reuter recently projected that the Eagles could trade up from pick No. 32 to No. 26 in a deal with the Los Angeles Rams. The target? Ole Miss defensive tackle Walter Nolen, a dominant force on the interior defensive line.
If this scenario unfolds, Philadelphia would part with a late third-round pick and one of their fifth-rounders to secure Nolen, while also receiving a sixth-round pick from the Rams. It would be a classic Roseman move trading assets from the later rounds to land an immediate-impact player for the trenches.
Walter Nolen: A perfect fit for Eagles’ defensive line
At 6-foot-3 and 305 pounds, Nolen has all the tools to thrive in the Eagles’ defensive scheme. After transferring from Texas A&M to Ole Miss, he had a breakout 2024 season, racking up 48 tackles (14 for loss), 6.5 sacks, three pass deflections, and two fumble recoveries. With Milton Williams departing in free agency, the Eagles could use another dominant presence alongside Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis in the defensive line rotation.
Philadelphia has a history of prioritizing the trenches, having previously traded up for Carter and Davis. Adding Nolen would ensure that the team continues to dominate at the line of scrimmage, keeping their defense among the league’s elite.
Will Eagles prioritize defensive tackle over other needs?
While defensive tackle is a position of interest, the Eagles also have other pressing needs. Edge rusher, offensive guard, and defensive back remain areas to address. The team has already made notable additions this offseason, signing EDGE Azeez Ojulari, pass rusher Josh Uche, and cornerback Adoree’ Jackson, while also acquiring guard Kenyon Green.
With solid depth across the roster, the Eagles aren’t forced to draft for immediate need. Instead, they can take the best player available or make a move to secure their top target. If Walter Nolen is that player, expect Howie Roseman to work the draft board to make it happen.

The 2025 NFL Draft is fast approaching, and all eyes will be on Philadelphia’s front office. Will Roseman pull the trigger on another first-round trade, or will he let the board fall to him? The Eagles won’t be passive when it comes to building a championship-caliber roster.
