People who have received wrong water bills need not pay them: Arvind Kejriwal

NEW DELHI: Ahead of the Delhi elections in February, former Delhi chief minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal announced on Saturday that residents who have received incorrect water bills do not need to pay them.

“Our government in Delhi has been providing free water to people for the last 10 years. More than 12 lakh families get 0 water bills. But after I went to jail, I don’t know what these people did. They did something wrong and people started getting water bills of thousands and lakhs of rupees every month,” Kejriwal said.
“I want to publicly and officially announce that those who think their bills are wrong, they need not pay their water bills, they should wait. AAP will form the government after the elections and we will get their wrong bills waived off. This is my promise to all the people, this is my guarantee,” Kejriwal added.
He assured that if AAP comes to power after the upcoming elections, the incorrect bills will be waived.

In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks about the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi, Kejriwal on Friday defended his government’s work in the capital, calling it a “blessing” rather than a crisis.
“The work AAP is doing is not a crisis; people consider it a blessing,” Kejriwal stated during a press conference.
He countered Modi’s comments, asserting that the real crisis lies within the BJP.
“The crisis is not in Delhi; it’s within the BJP,” Kejriwal said, identifying three key issues the BJP faces: the lack of a chief ministerial candidate, absence of a clear narrative, and no agenda for the upcoming election.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi criticised the AAP government, accusing it of damaging Delhi’s school education over the past decade.
PM Modi also attacked Kejriwal, claiming that Delhi has been facing an “Aapda” (crisis) due to AAP’s leadership, which he attributed to a few dishonest individuals led by Anna Hazare.
