NEW DELHI: Pakistani star batter Babar Azam and South African bowler Wiaan Mulder engaged in a heated exchange on the third day of the second Test in Cape Town on Sunday.
During Pakistan’s follow-on innings, Babar executed a solid drive towards the bowler in the 32nd over. After collecting the ball in his follow-through, the bowler aggressively threw it towards the batter.

The throw was poorly directed and hit Babar’s foot while he was positioned marginally outside his batting crease.
This led to a verbal altercation between the players, creating tension on the field. The situation required intervention from both teams’ players and the umpires had to step in to restore calm.

However, Babar chose to douse the fire, stating such things are part and parcel of the game.
“It was just the heat of the moment. These things happen in cricket, and we move on. It’s all part of the game.” Babar said with a smile while speaking about the incident after the day’s play.
Babar hit his stride in Test cricket during the South Africa series, showcasing consistency with a streak of half-centuries. In the second innings at Centurion, he scored a fifty and followed it up with two more in consecutive innings during the second Test.
This marked the first time in his career that Babar achieved three consecutive fifties without converting any of them into a century.
