NEW DELHI: Supporters of MP Pappu Yadav staged a ‘rail roko’ protest in Patna, sitting on railway tracks at Sachiwalay Halt to support the ongoing protests by BPSC aspirants.
“The Bihar government has forced us to take to the streets by jeopardising the future of 4 lakh students. BPSC aspirants have been protesting continuously for 16 days, yet the government remains indifferent,” said a supporter.
Earlier, Prashant Kishor launched an indefinite hunger strike on Thursday, demanding the cancellation of the Bihar Civil Services (BPSC) examination over the alleged paper leak. He joined the BPSC aspirants in their protest at Gandhi Maidan.
The protesting students in Patna are calling for the cancellation of the Integrated Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024, conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) on 13 December.
On Tuesday, leaders from the Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (CPI-ML) marched towards Raj Bhavan to meet the Governor regarding the BPSC issue. However, their march was stopped by the police before reaching Raj Bhavan.
