Panic in Maharashtra villages as people experience sudden hair loss

NEW DELHI: Around 30 people in three villages in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district are experiencing rapid hair loss and baldness.
The affected villages are Kalvad, Bondgaon, and Hingna, all located in the Shegaon taluka. The Zilla Parishad’s health department discovered the issue during a recent survey.
Health officials are investigating possible water contamination as the cause.
Water samples from the villages are undergoing testing. The health department began its survey on Tuesday and is providing medical treatment to those affected.
Dr. Deepali Bahekar, Shegaon health officer, stated, “The department has started medical treatment of the patients as per the symptoms, and the advice from skincare specialists is also being taken.”
