RAIPUR: In a historic first, Chhattisgarh finance minister OP Choudhary presented a handwritten budget in the state assembly on Monday.
Breaking away from the tradition of computer-typed documents, the minister personally penned the entire 100-page budget, marking a significant and symbolic shift and beginning a new tradition.
Calling it a step toward tradition and originality, Choudhary noted that presenting a handwritten budget in the digital age holds unique significance. “This initiative revives the essence of authenticity and transparency in governance,” he stated.
Until now, Chhattisgarh has followed the practice of presenting ‘computer-typed budgets.’ However, this move introduces a blend of tradition and transparency in governance, setting a new example in the state’s legislative history. The initiative is expected to bring a renewed focus on the authenticity and integrity of budget documents, strengthening public trust.
Chief minister said that it’s the first time that a provision of Rs 2500 crore has been done for road development in the state.
CCCI lauds Chhattisgarh budget, welcomes key industry boosts
The Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCCI), Raipur, one of India’s leading trade chambers with the highest number of members, has lauded the state budget presented by finance minister OP Choudhary on Monday.
The budget allocates Rs 1,420 crore for settling industrial subsidies and removes the cess on stamp duty for real estate transactions.
Describing the budget as developmental, the CCCI welcomed its focus on women’s empowerment, poverty alleviation, and infrastructure development.
Additionally, the announcement of concessional land for the Chamber’s state office was warmly received, with the CCCI appreciating the move on behalf of its 1.2 million traders.
