‘Not a time to celebrate’: Atishi acknowledges AAP’s defeat as Amit Shah declares ‘end of lies’ in Delhi

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, one of the few Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders to secure a win in the assembly polls, has conceded her party’s defeat while vowing to continue its fight against the BJP. Atishi, who retained her Kalkaji seat by a slim margin of 3,580 votes over BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri, thanked voters for their trust but made it clear that celebrations were not in order.

“I thank the people of Kalkaji for showing trust in me,” Atishi told reporters. “We accept the people’s mandate. I have won, but it’s not a time to celebrate—our ‘war’ against the BJP continues.”
Her victory stands in stark contrast to AAP’s overall performance, as its top leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal and former deputy CM Manish Sisodia, lost their constituencies.
Shah declares ‘end of lies’ in Delhi
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on the other hand, hailed the BJP’s sweeping lead in the capital, calling it a rejection of AAP’s governance.
“The people of Delhi have destroyed the ‘Sheeshmahal’ of lies, deceit, and corruption,” Shah wrote on X. “This is the beginning of a new era of development and trust in Delhi.”
He further declared that BJP’s massive win signaled the victory of “Modi ki Guarantee,” emphasizing that Delhiites had rejected false promises.
With BJP leading on 48 seats and AAP trailing with 22, the Congress has once again been wiped out, failing to open its account in Delhi for the third consecutive term.
