'No one fears EC or law': Kejriwal claims BJP leaders 'openly' giving money, liquor, gold chains to Delhi voters

NEW DELHI: In a big charge against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal claimed on Friday that the saffron party leaders are “openly distributing money, liquor, gold chains, etc” for the past one and a half months “in the presence of police”.
” “Often it is said that the night before election is the night of murder when a lot of money, food, liquor is distributed, but this Delhi election is completely different. Here, for the past 1.5 months, money, liquor, shoes, blankets, ration, gold chains etc. is being distributed openly, in presence of police,” Kejriwal said in a video he released addressing Delhi voters on X.
“No one fears the Election Commission or the law. Even the police are protecting those distributing these items, organising lines, and ensuring only voters get these handouts,” Kejriwal claimed.

“This is dangerous for our democracy. The money and goods being distributed are not government funds; it’s being handed out by leaders of ‘gaali galoch party’. Where is this money coming from? How did they gather crores—billions—of rupees just to buy votes? This is the money they looted from the people of this country through corruption,” the former Delhi CM claimed.
In an appeal to the voters, Kejriwal said, “I request you to take everything they distribute—be it money or goods—but remember, do not sell your vote. Do not trade your priceless vote for Rs 1,111, a saree, a blanket, or a pair of shoes. Your vote is invaluable.”
“I urge you, take as much as you can from these corrupt people — it’s your money that they looted. But do not sell your vote. Your vote is worth far more than Rs 1,100, far more than a saree or blanket. The right to vote that you have today was not easy to come by. It’s a right granted to you by Dr. BR Ambedkar,” Kejriwal said.
“Remember, vote for whoever you want, but never vote for someone who tries to buy your vote,” the AAP chief apeealed to the voters.
Delhi assembly elections will be held in a single phase on February 5. The election results will be declared on February 8.
