Nintendo Switch 2: Release date, price and specs

Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 console will release on June 5. Preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 begin on April 9 in North America and April 8 in Europe.
As for specs, Nintendo Switch 2 features a 7.9-inch display while still measuring 13.99mm in thickness, just like the original Switch. Its LCD panel delivers 1080p resolution, supports HDR, and can achieve up to a 120fps refresh rate with variable refresh rate.
The Joy-Con controllers are larger now and, as suggested, can operate similarly to a mouse—though a note clarifies that mouse mode only works with compatible games. They remain magnetically attached to the Switch 2.
Nintendo has also clarified the purpose of the mysterious “C” button on the right Joy-Con below the home button, revealing that it powers a new feature called GameChat. Previously seen in early videos and leaks, this square, “C”-marked button has now been officially explained.
The company has also introduced the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera, a dedicated accessory designed to sit next to your TV and enable video chats through GameChat using the new “C” button, with functionality that allows your face to overlay the game or appear as a standalone video feed.
Nintendo Switch 2 will also come with a GameShare feature that will allow one game owner to locally share a game with up to three other consoles—both Switch 2 and original models—while also supporting online play and game chat. It will be available for select games, with titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Captain Toad Treasure Tracker among the first examples.
The company is also releasing a GameCube controller, which it says will be available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers with the Switch 2 console.

Nintendo Switch 2: Price

Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 console will start at $449.99 (nearly Rs 38,500). A special Mario Kart World bundle of the console priced at $499.99 will also be available. Nintendo Switch 2 starts at 395.99 pounds in the UK and 469.99 euros in Germany. The console will include Joy-Con 2 controllers, a dock, an HDMI cable, a USB-C charging cable and an AC adapter.

Nintendo Switch 2 games revealed

GameCube classics like The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Soul Calibur 2, and F-Zero GX are coming to the Nintendo Online Switch subscription service with enhanced image quality. Firaxis Games will launch Civilization VII on the Switch 2 at launch with new mouse controls, while Deltarune will debut with new chapters.
Additionally, Hollow Knight: Silksong is now scheduled for a 2025 release, and Cyberpunk 2077 will also arrive on the console. In the Hyrule Warriors series, Age of Imprisonment is set to expand the franchise’s lore to Switch 2.
Finally, Mario Kart World, a day-one exclusive featuring an open-world mode and dynamic race environments, will be available, with a special bundle option offering the game at launch.
